Austin & Tyrell (click to enlarge)Talented high-energy fiddlers Tyrell and Austin Fauske grew up in North Dakota’s Turtle Mountains on a ranch along the Canadian border next door to the International Peace Garden and the International Music Camp.

Fauske Family (click to enlarge)At an early age, the boys wanted to be like their dad… and play the fiddle!  Their father thought they should learn to “play it right” by notes rather than learn aurally. So at age five, each began classical violin lessons at the nearest university in Brandon, Manitoba before they began kindergarten in Bottineau, North Dakota.

Tyrell & Austin (click to enlarge)At the age of eight, each turned back to their “fiddle roots” because the music was fun, fast and furious.  They focused their full attention to fiddling and began playing with the internationally known Fantasy Fiddlers.  For more than ten years the young brothers traveled extensively across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and North Dakota performing with the group and also as a duo.

The popular, energetic fiddlers are more passionate than ever about preserving their Norwegian, Scotch, Irish, and French heritage and are continuing to perform as a duo throughout North Dakota and beyond.  They truly enjoy delighting their audiences and occasionally surprise them by including “fiddling friends” in their fast-paced performance.

Hardanger fiddles (click to enlarge)Their tunes feature a delightful mix of old-time folk tunes, traditional and newer fiddle favorites, gospel, bluegrass, Norwegian Hardingfele (Hardanger), and country. The Fauske brothers have produced two recordings:"Fiddle Reflections... music from the past!" andtheir latest release - "Fiddle Gems". Both recordings are available for purchase, as well as recordings from the Fantasy Fiddlers.
